Unbelievable

The season is over with a bang. We traveled to Des Moines, Iowa, for three final games against Wentzville, Waukee and Blue Valley Northwest High School and ended the day 3-0. The girls had strong games against Wentzville and Waukee, and unbelievably came back to defeat Blue Valley 10-7. Trully an incredible effort by every single player. We ended the season 10-8, with varsity's record at 6-5 and JV's at 4-3.
Here's a silly photo: (believe me, there was no shortness of silly at the games on Saturday)

All that's left of the season is the team banquet, Tuesday, May 18, at Annie's. Contact Angellina for directions. Stephanie is still doing another youth clinic this Thursday at 5:30, if the older girls would like to help out. And several of the girls have been invited to go to the Vail Shootout with the Kansas City traveling team. Congratulations to all.

The Final Week

Here's the team after three games in Columbia from last weekend. We lost the first game 10-5 against Columbia, then beat Wentzville's Junior Varsity something like 10-2 and came from behind to beat Wentzville's Varsity 9-6 (it was a nail-biter). So far JV's season is 3-3, and varsity is 4-5.

This is our last week of practice. We've got games in West Des Moines on Saturday:
10:30 a.m. Omaha JV vs. Wentzville JV
12 p.m. Omaha vs. Des Moines
4:30 p.m. Omaha vs. Blue Valley

The Mud Bowl

We traveled to Kansas City this weekend for four games, two with varsity, two with JV, one incredibly muddy. We were like the seventh team to play on the field on Saturday after it had rained all day long. The arc area was a complete pit of mud. Some girls even slid through the mud for fun. Obviously, they had a great time.

The girls played really really hard, but we lost all our games this weekend. Varsity played the two best teams in the league (Blue Valley and Notre Dame de Scion aka Kansas City). Junior varsity played St. Theresa's junior varsity and Kansas City's junior varsity. It was what my dad likes to call "character building."

We'll be at home next weekend (at Dana College):
May 1
1 p.m. Varsity vs. Shawnee Mission East
2:30 p.m. JV vs. Des Moines

May 2
8 a.m. Varsity vs. Kansas City
12:30 p.m. JV vs. Shawnee Mission East JV
3:30 p.m. JV vs. Kansas City JV

Scrimmages in Blair

For parents who may not be traveling this weekend, we have a varsity game against Dana College on Tuesday and a JV game on Thursday in Blair, March 30 and April 1, respectively!

Girls will need to be at the games and ready to warm up PROMPTLY at 5 p.m. Directions are below:

Dana College
2800 College Drive
Blair, NE 68008

The best way to get to Blair is Interstate 680 north to the Irvington/Blair exit. Head north and Highway 133 takes you right into Blair. Take a left at the third stop light (Nebraska St.) and that takes you into the back side of campus. You will go past the soccer field, softball field and you'll see the baseball field. Don't go past the baseball field. Stay left and go up the hill. Take the first left into the parking lot and park in the back of the lot. You will see the football stadium from there.
